Services - Acting Local!

LANDSCAPE AND CURRICULUM:
We build permaculture installations for schools; involving pupils in the design process and providing follow on schemes of work for each year group and term.
We transform unused spaces into productive ecosystems using sustainable materials and techniques.
All installations will vary according to the site, are based around a repeating pattern in nature and include fruit trees, vegetables, tyre ponds and other micro-habitats.
We begin with a site survey looking at the aspect, soil type, slope and look for naturally available materials. We return a drawn plan for your opinions.
We carry out any heavy work out of hours and prepare the ground for pupils to get involved in the creativity and planting. Health and safety is a high consideration.
All activities are risk assessed before and dynamically during project work.

LECTURES AND WORKSHOPS:
There are many theories and opinions on the future. What is certain is that it will be very different to now due to peak oil in the short term and emerging technologies to make energy abundant in the long term. A history up to our present (quite dire) situation leads into best practice for the transition with an interactive presentaion and hands on examples. The whole day offers a holistic look by briefly taking in the problems and spending longer on practical solutions and how children can be best equiped. Lectures in this style are available to staff and whole day workshops for each year group are available for the children.
